Daharay Lekh Sacred Mystic Fire Pilgrimage (Day Trip)
Come to a sacred Himalayan summit where local mountain sadhus live and chant to the Mystic Fire every day. This secret Fire is kindled in a tiny stone fire-house.
We will first be paying homage to the Yoni shaped stone. Upon arrival at the road end, we will hike for 15 minutes up a 60 degree slope of steps. We will each carry a little offering to give the the aged, most senior sadhu. Atop the steps the single male "pillar" of rock, standing alone, is in behind this opening view, this mountain summit stone "pillar" that in a hymn supports the sky.
Daharay Lekh is a beautiful scenic three-hour drive from Pokhara through the ancient Syangja Valley, a land with deep Vedic roots. This sacred site is known mainly to local devotees and holds a mystic fire that has burned for generations.
After greeting the Sadhus, we will climb to the "pillar" summit, also at 60 degrees but much longer than from the jeep parking place. At the summit we will walk around the little stone goddess temple to see the large breasts below us.
This mountain has both genders atop it's base. The view is also of Annapurna, in her mystic vastness, with a fire shaped peak sitting in the center of her "lap" outline. We will light incense to this view. As well we will offer incense to the original temple nature goddess, shaped as a woman, that now sits outside the shrine.
Making our way back down the steps we will see a decorated railing around a vertical entrance to a celebrated meditation cave. Visit if you want. This is an example of the "secret places of being" that this summit holds.
Back with the sadus we will ask permission to offer to the Mystic Fire in his own fire-house, with six huge quare window-like square openings for air. The ground level
openings allow also for large logs to pass through for the fire ritual and chant. These logs stay alight as glowing coals when covered with ash, thus an eternal Flame is produced. Sitting inside two at a time, we will light our own tiny wood flame and call to the Mystic Fire in a short Sabskrit chant, casting grains into the flames with each phrase.
But first, we will sit straight and observe our little fire burning in front. This is the.mystic male from early ages. The practice is to build a relationship with him in the heart.
He chants to us and we will do so in return. His light and force are very clear. This clarity he will give to us when carrying our offering. However, being a mystic male, his dharmic duty is to carry the offering of the divine Feminine of which womanhood is a part.
We will notice his inspirational warmth and begin a simple and short chant. Then with closed eyes we will visualize the fire in front, just as it is. This visialization is what we offer ourselves to, the Someone everybody has inside discovered by the Rig Vedic Rishis. Then a short meditation.
After the chant and meditation we will leave the fite-,house, have a cup of tea, get blessed by the aged sadhu and then leave.
